Feeding wildlife and nuisance animals
At 16 Averill Street in Dartmouth, a neighbor is regularly leaving food and food scraps in their backyard, which is attracting seagulls, crows, and raccoons to the area. This has become an ongoing nuisance due to unsanitary conditions and the increased wildlife activity around nearby properties. The issue has been occurring repeatedly and appears to be encouraging wildlife to gather throughout the neighbourhood. Seagulls and crows are often seen perched on rooftops waiting to be fed, and raccoons have also begun gathering nearby. I am concerned about sanitation, potential property damage, and possible health and safety risks. I am requesting that bylaw enforcement investigate the situation and determine whether this outdoor feeding activity violates any HRM nuisance or wildlife-related bylaws.
